Day 13 cont…

I just wanted to show you the end result of our Postman ROAK.  We left the biscuits outside the front door along with a poster that Caeli penned, and christmas cards.  One of the parcel postmen even popped a ‘Thank you and Merry Christmas’ back through the letterbox which was most exciting and heartwarming.

Definitely one of our best activities so far!

Days 12 & 13 (AAC)

Day 12 was another one the kids loved.  They got to watch a Christmas themed movie (Tom and Jerry’s Christmas Party) whilst eating popcorn.  Fabulous task on a cold winters day!  No pics for this one I’m afraid 😉

Day 13 was more of a hit than I expected it to be.  Father Christmas asked the kids to do a Random Act of Kindness for ANYONE today.  They have chosen to do a few:-

*they donated some money at a Charity collection box in Claire’s

*they delivered our landlady’s ever growing pile of post (saving her a trip to collect it)

*we baked and decorated a bunch of biscuits for our postmen, hope they like them!

Day 11 (AAC)

Wednesday’s task was hands down the best one so far – eagerly awaited and appreciated by all 4 of us….tree decorating day! We didn’t stop at the tree and decorated the whole house as well – complete with tinsel trailing down our banister and a few christmas lights twinkling outside.  We love Christmas and had great fun!

I was a bit of a spoiled brat and stamped my feet and demanded a ‘real’ tree (hehe), as I just love the smells of a real tree.  We have got the most *beautiful* tree complete with real candles and some gorgeous decorations that we have collected over the years.

What do you think?

Day 10 (AAC)

Today our note from Santa instructed us to make Indoor Snow to play with.  It sounded rather messy (okay it was rather messy) but it was surprisingly easy to clean up.  And the kids *loved* it.  Definitely need to make it again!

You just mix a box of corn flour (Maizena) with a can of shaving cream until it resembles the consistency of snow.  If it’s too wet add more corn flour, if it’s too dry add more shaving cream.  It has the most incredible consistency – very light and powdery…yet it sticks together.  I even loved playing with it!

Day 9 (AAC)

Day 9 is one that I find particularly interesting.  Santa instructed us to each put our names into a hat and then each randomly to draw one name.  We then each had to write a special note to the person whose name we drew, detailing why we love them and what we find so special about them.  It was a big secret as to who drew whose names, and we all (very secretively) set to work writing our special notes.  Santa will collect them tonight and then place them into our stockings on Christmas morning – I cannot wait to see what they all say!

So happy again that we are doing this activity advent calendar – the kids really do genuinely love it.  I have to confess that they do have a regular chocolate advent calendar as well (which they received as gifts) but honestly THIS is the one that they truly love and appreciate.  Yes it takes a bit of time and organisation but seeing the excitement on their faces every morning when they race downstairs to see whether or not a note has been left…it’s more than worth it every. day.

Roll on tomorrows activity….

Night all 🙂

Day 8 (AAC)

The kiddies were very excited to wake up on Day 8 and find a note where Santa simply asked them to find 6 christmas books that he very generously sent in and hid around the lounge.  They had a wonderful time looking through the books and enjoying the new stories – particularly ‘Santa is coming to the Isle of Man” (by Steve Smallman) which was of course of particular relevance to them!

Happy days 🙂

Day 7 (AAC)

Day 7 was an exciting one – it was finally time to make some CHRISTMAS CARDS.  My dining room is an absolutely delightful mess – there is just glitter, card, felt tips, stickers, glues and more everywhere.  I am loving every second! I am so proud of all the hard work and creativity my kids have put into make the most beautiful cards – I really hope that they all arrive safe and sound. These cards are Imagefar too precious to get lost in the post.Image
